Making Yourself Transparent

August 30th, 2010 · 1 Comment · Uncategorized, Writing and Meditation

In memoir we want to be doing the kind of writing that comes from our very being, our heart. Writing and meditation work in tandem to help us see into and express our hearts with all its victories and failures. When we write from our heart our writing becomes richer, more true, and more transparent. And by transparent I mean that others can see into you because you have made yourself open to being seen. Is it worth the risk to you?

As I’ve traveled my life’s road, I have run into many obstacles that have made me want to hide. I mean, REALLY, hide as in closing myself off from who I truly am and never letting anyone in far enough to hurt me again. However, the fact that when I am emotionally injured, after the binge on oreos and ice cream is over, I write.. I have been able to remain transparent in my authenticity and honesty of what happened, how it happened, what part I played in the event and that everything happens for a reason and to teach a lesson. If I did not take pen to paper during these most trying times, I am absolutely certain I would not be the person I am or know myself so well.
Transparency is risky but it is also joyful, peaceful and to me…the only way to really live life as my authentic self. Letting people really know me has allowed me to simplify my life, BREATH and BE.
